Strathcona School Garden and Daycare Revitalization
On April 30th, 2011 volunteer Canada, in Partnership, with Starbucks brought in 500 volunteers to give the Community Centre area and school grounds a "face-lift." The two main activities involved Renovating and expanding the garden areas outside the centre and school and renovating the two inside community centre rooms upstairs.
It was an incredible sight to witness, hundreds of volunteers were involved in every aspect of the renovation ranging from washing toys to building shelves to digging up shrubs to wheeling dirt around in wheelbarrows and planting greenery. Even though the work was hard there were never any complaints, people completed tasks with smiles laughter and song, a truly awe inspiring day.
